With Josh; 28 December
A woman with witch hair (Josh questioned her past, thought maybe a former beauty queen); a couple -- the woman wears a Marilyn Manson sweatshirt while the man coddles a baby, awkwardly bouncing him up and down; black man talking on a cell phone, incoherent; diet cranberry juice shoved onto a shelf of Christmas clearance items -- behind the juice, a bag of miniature Heath candy bars; a woman who works for Chuck, whose name I never learned, working as a cashier; man facing us with a grin, holding a stuffed animal in front of his chest like a sign; a couple, each with their own empty shopping cart -- the man, alone, walks behind us as Josh buys some envelopes, yells angrily as he approaches the woman, also alone, and says to her, "He's over there lookin' for some Kool-Aid!"

In the car, Josh played "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes. I told him what my mom had said about Dirty Dancing.
